#10 Pakwan - The royal dining experience
Pakwan, translating to 'dish' in Hindi, is a restaurant located at the heart of Chennai, T. Nagar. The restaurant, as per their Facebook page, claims to 'give your taste buds the royal dining experience in the best of vegetarian north Indian, Italian and Chinese cuisines with an ambience that looks just wow'.
I was more than eager to visit this place to have my lunch to satisfy my taste buds on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Although the restaurant is located at the end of the street, we did not have any difficulties in finding out the place, thanks to their signage.
The entrance of the restaurant was welcoming. We were guided to our seats with helpful servicemen. However, the interiors of the restaurant resembled more of a Chinese-themed restaurant, which I think is due to their overwhelming use of reds in the background.
As we were really hungry, we directly went to starters, although they did have soups. For starters, we ordered kuti lal mirch paneer tikka and cheese kurkure. The service was real quick ( as we were the only ones at the restaurant that time I guess) and we received our food within ten minutes.
The pieces in the paneer tikka were huge and the pudhina chutney provided along with it was tasty. I would have liked a little bit more tanginess to the chutney. However, the cheese kurkure was a big letdown. While we were expecting kurkure-shaped starter, we got something resembling spring rolls ( we actually decided not to have spring rolls that day but ended up eating something real close to that).
The restaurant had quite a variety of mocktails which was very difficult for us to take our eyes from. Hence, we ended up ordering pink hot lips, pollution Chennai and sunrise marina. The mocktails were served in pretty glasses and looked appetizing.
For the main course, we ordered only Indian cuisine as this place specializes in that. We went in for masala paneer peas kulcha and cheese chilly naan. For sabzis, we ordered achari paneer kuruchran and mirch makai hara pyaaz. The kulcha and naan were up to our expectations. The achari paneer did did not have much achari flavor, but the overall taste was nice. The mirch makai was very satisfactory.
We did not have any space for desserts as we were full till our neck. The quantity provided by them was sufficient. Overall, this restaurant provided a good and pleasant dining experience.
p.s. the review for this restaurant is solely based on my personal experience :)
